My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is an upcoming animated series set in the universe of the acclaimed My Hero Academia franchise. Scheduled for release in 2025, this spin-off explores a darker and grittier side of the hero world. Created by Hideyuki Furuhashi and Kôhei Horikoshi, the series follows the journey of a timid college student who rekindles his long-forgotten dream of becoming a hero.
The story revolves around Koichi Haimawari, an unassuming college student who lacks the confidence and resources to become a licensed hero. However, his life changes when he meets Knuckleduster, a former pro hero turned vigilante, and Pop Step, a young performer with a rebellious spirit. Together, they form an unlikely team, operating outside the law to take down criminals and bring justice to the streets.
Unlike licensed heroes, vigilantes in this series take risks without government support, battling both villains and societal indifference. The narrative explores themes of justice, identity, and personal growth in a world where superpowers, known as Quirks, are common but true heroism is rare.
