The Surrender (2025)

The Surrender is a dark and atmospheric drama-horror-thriller directed and written by Julia Max. The film follows the unsettling story of a grieving family dealing with unbearable loss and the desperate lengths they will go to in order to reclaim what death has taken from them. When the family patriarch unexpectedly passes away, a mother and daughter embark on a dangerous path to defy nature and reverse fate.

At the heart of the film is Megan, portrayed by Colby Minifie, and her mother Barbara, played by Kate Burton. As the ritual progresses, eerie events unfold and sinister forces close in, testing their courage, sanity, and bond.

The film expertly weaves tension and emotion, capturing both the fragility of grief and the horrors that come with tampering with the natural order. The cast delivers gripping performances, with Chelsea Alden portraying a younger version of Barbara, adding depth and history to the family’s haunting past. The supporting roles, filled by actors such as Vaughn Armstrong and Riley Rose Critchlow, strengthen the narrative with unsettling and memorable moments.
