North of North (2025)

“North of North” is a refreshing and heartfelt comedy series set in a remote Arctic village. The story follows Siaja, a young Inuk woman determined to carve out her own identity in a close-knit community where everyone knows each other’s business. Battling against small-town gossip, tradition, and societal expectations, Siaja’s journey is one of personal discovery and quiet rebellion.

The series captures the spirit and warmth of northern Indigenous communities while exploring universal themes of belonging, individuality, and the struggle to define one’s path in the face of cultural expectations. Through humor, relatable characters, and touching moments, “North of North” presents a coming-of-age story rooted in the unique setting of the Canadian Arctic.

Created by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, both celebrated for their work highlighting Indigenous stories, this eight-episode series stars Anna Lambe in the lead role of Siaja. Additional cast members include Zorga Qaunaq as Millie, Bailey Poching as Colin, Jay Ryan as Alistair, Mary Lynn Rajskub as Helen, and Doreen Nutaaq Simmonds as Elisapee, each contributing to the lively and sometimes chaotic village life depicted in the series.
