This City Is a Battlefield is a gripping historical action thriller set for release in 2025. The film tells the story of Guru Isa, a 35-year-old former resistance fighter and violinist, who finds himself drawn back into a violent struggle for his country’s freedom. Living under colonial occupation, he devises a daring plan to bomb a movie theater frequently visited by British NICA officials and Dutch authorities. The venue, a symbol of foreign control and oppression, becomes the centerpiece of his desperate mission for justice.
Directed by Mouly Surya, and based on a story by Mochtar Lubis with a screenplay co-written by Surya herself, the film blends historical events with personal conflict and romance.
